Visit Cox's Bazar Sea Beach the Longest Sea Beach on Earth

Cox's Bazar Arguably the most attracti9ve tourist resort of the country Bangladesh, located on a low range of sand hills between the river bakkhali and the bay of bengal with a ling open beach towards the sea. The town was named after Lieutenant Cox, who had rehabilitated here a group of maghs seeking shelter in British territory after the conquest of arakan by the Burmese. He died here in 1798. Jatiyo Kabita Parishad Puroshkar (National Poetry Council Award) 2007 was conferred on eminent poet Mahadev Saha on February 2 at the Dhaka University Library premises. 25 lakh urban poor to get rice at 'fair price'

The government on Monday decided to expand its social safety net programme to urban areas in the form of rice sales to the ultra poor in Dhaka and other cities at a 'fair price'. The decision came at a meeting of the food planning and monitoring committee at the cecretariat with food and disaster management minister Abdur Razzaque in the chair. 20,000 Bangladeshi students to get scope for edn in US a year

The US will provide education opportunities to 20,000 Bangladeshi students in its colleges and universities every year, US Under Secretary of State for Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy Judith A Mchale said yesterday. "We encourage Bangladeshi students to come to the US and the US students to Bangladesh. Such exchange programmers are aimed at better understanding of culture and people," she told reporters after a lecture at the Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University.

According to the American Center in Dhaka, only 2,700 Bangladeshi students are currently studying in the US colleges and universities. Judith delivered the lecture on 'Building Bridges through Studies in the US'. BANGLADESHI BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION

Most ministries behind 6-month target:

Ministries of education, and primary and mass education have performed best in overall budget implementation in the first six months of the current fiscal year while the agriculture ministry is lagging far behind. In terms of percentage, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division has fared best, implementing around 71 percent of it's total budget allocation although the amount spent is much less than those of the education and primary and mass education ministries.

The finance ministry recently reviewed the status of budget implementation by 10 big ministries and divisions, which received 41.5 percent allocation of the total budget layout. These ministries and divisions spent 35.3 percent of their total allocation in the first six months of FY2009-10.
